Amid speculation about Lewis Hamilton’s future, Formula1.com has listed the Briton as Mercedes’ 2022 driver in an article revealing all driver line-ups.

Lewis Hamilton has been silent in the media since the controversial ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that saw him lose the title to Max Verstappen due to the FIA not following Safety Car rules and protocols.

A few days later, when asked if Hamilton will return to Formula 1 in 2022, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said he ‘hopes’ he will. This led to widespread media speculation that Hamilton might not return.

However, Lewis himself never indicated he is thinking about not returning, and now the official Formula 1 website listed him as Mercedes’ 2022 driver.

George Russell partners seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes as Valtteri Bottas has left the team after five seasons, having helped the Silver Arrows clinch a record eighth consecutive constructors’ championship,” the article states.

“Another former Williams driver, Russell makes a long-awaited step up to the team that have dominated the turbo-hybrid era.”

If there is any doubt among the fanbase still, recently Mercedes also published a pretty big hint that Lewis will return.

Since there were never any official statements made from either Mercedes or Lewis himself that put his future into question, it is very likely that there will be no official ‘confirmation’ of his participation in 2022.
