George Russell thanks Lewis Hamilton for moving over for him at the Miami Grand Prix, as they were on different strategies at the time.
At the Miami Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were on different strategies, and so at one point Mercedes asked Lewis to move over for the young Briton.
Lewis of course did this, and in his post-race comments, George thanked him for ‘letting him by’.
“A very satisfying race for us, we finished P4 on merit,” the Briton said.
“To jump ahead of the Ferraris was really satisfying and [we] couldn’t have done any more.

“[It was] was a more normal day for us after the challenges in qualifying, but of course, still work to at least jump ahead of Aston Martin and close the gap to Red Bull.
“The move on Carlos [Sainz] was really quite enjoyable, probably the fairest. [It was a] good move that required a lot of commitment, because this track is so dirty offline that I wasn’t too sure how much grip I would have had or if I could make it stick.
“Thanks to Lewis for letting me by in those situations and allowing me to get on with my race, [he] obviously was in a different position.
“We’ve got a really good relationship at the moment and we only want the best for the team,” Russell concluded.
