Hamilton after driving the W14: “I generally felt comfortable in the car”

Lewis Hamilton has completed the first shakedown of the W14 during Mercedes’ filming day on Thursday, and he gives his first comments on the car.

Lewis Hamilton had the opportunity to try out Mercedes’ 2023 car for the first time on Thursday, during Mercedes’ filming day.

After getting out of the car, Lewis gave off positive vibes in a short video from Mercedes.

“Just finished my first run in the W14,” the Briton said.

“I’m so proud and incredibly grateful for all the amazing work that everyone has done back at the factory to get us here running.

“This is the most exciting period of time for everyone. The 2023 season has officially started.

“The test next week in Bahrain is where we really get a full understanding of what the car can do, so now it’s back to training. I’m looking forward to it.”

After the W14’s initial run, Mercedes sent out a press release, which included Lewis’ first comments on the car.

“It has been great to get up and running with the W14. It is always a much-anticipated moment for everyone at the factory that has been working so hard.

“I’m incredibly grateful for all the effort that has gone in. The day has been smooth, we got through a good programme, and we’ve come away with some useful findings.

“I generally felt comfortable in the car and I’m excited to get going in Bahrain,” Hamilton concluded.
