Lewis Hamilton says “the step we took has moved” the W14 “more in the direction I’ve been asking for”, and adds he’s “still not able to extract full potential from myself but we’re getting there”.
Lewis Hamilton has been very vocal about the things Mercedes needs to do to improve their troubled car.
After the team finally introduced their first big upgrade, the car has finally moved in a more positive development direction, and Lewis’ results have been getting better and better.
However, the Briton says he’s still not where he needs to be.
“I’ve not been happy in the car for the past year and a bit,” Lewis said.
“The step we took has moved it more in the direction I’ve been asking for. Slowly we’re rebuilding confidence in the platform I have.

“It’s still not 100%. I’m still not able to extract full potential from myself but we’re getting there.”
Lewis then explained what makes the car so difficult to drive.
“You’re just limited. The stability of the car and the confidence of where you can put the car. You saw last year I crashed here and so did George.
“The car has been very unpredictable for a long time but it’s becoming more predictable, which is a positive,” Hamilton concluded.
