Lewis Hamilton says when he saw “a plume of smoke” ahead of him at the start of the Mexican Grand Prix, he “knew it must have been” Max Verstappen.
At the start of the Mexican Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda and Alex Albon crashed out, leading to an early Safety Car.
Lewis Hamilton says he saw “a plume of smoke” ahead and thought it “must have been” Max Verstappen’s doing.
“I have not seen it,” Hamilton said..
“I could see a group of cars ahead and I saw a plume of smoke, like dust and I knew it was – I knew it must have been [Verstappen].
“Like, for sure it was him.”

Verstappen later received two penalties after a battle with Lando Norris, one for forcing his rival off the track while defending and one for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.
Lewis says he has a lot of experience with Max’s way of driving, after their fierce on-track battles in 2021.
“It’s always been a grey area. That’s why he’s got away with it for so long. I experienced it many times with Max.
“You shouldn’t be able to just launch the car up the inside and be ahead and then go off, and still hold the position,” the Briton concluded.
