Lewis Hamilton says Mercedes “clearly had a really great package” in Singapore, but after they “made big changes overnight”, it “got away from me again”.

Although George Russell managed to put his car in P2 for the Singapore Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton couldn’t do better than fifth.

After the session, Lewis said he just wasn’t able to get the car to go fast, after the team made some changes from Friday to Saturday.

“Today, we clearly had a really great package,” the Briton said.

“The car was feeling incredible yesterday and there was so much hope that with some tweaks, we could challenge the Ferraris.

“One of the cars was able to do that and I wasn’t today. We made big changes overnight and it got away from me again. I was just so slow today.”

However, Lewis hopes it will be different in the race, and hopes George can get the win.

“Definitely disappointing but tomorrow is a new day and I really hope George gets a great start tomorrow and puts some pressure on those Ferraris.

“It would be great for him to get a win,” Hamilton concluded.
