Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko says he doesn’t believe there is any truth to the rumours of Lewis Hamilton quitting Formula 1.

Rumours about the possibility that Lewis Hamilton will not return to Formula 1 have been swirling around ever since Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said he ‘hoped’ to see him back in 2022.

In addition, Lewis has been maintaining media silence since the controversial ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which saw him lose the 2021 championship due to race director Michael Masi not following the rules and protocols of the Safety Car.

However, Mercedes has continued to promote the Briton on their social media channels and there has been no indication from him that he is contemplating quitting the sport.

This of course does not stop the media from continuing to speculate, so F1-Insider.com asked Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko to give his opinion on the rumour.

“Normally there would be unrest if there was any truth to the resignation,” Marko said.

“Then the [telephone] wires would run hot behind the scenes for a Lewis substitute. But there was nothing: no talks, no phone calls, not even internal speculation.

“Neither here nor anywhere else,” the Austrian concluded.

Most recently Lewis broke his media silence by issuing a statement regarding Sky’s donation to his charitable foundation Mission 44, and he was also featured in Mercedes’ new video, where he wished fans a Happy Chinese New Year.
