Here are Lewis Hamilton, his race engineer Peter Bonnington – Bono, and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff‘s final radio messages before Lewis’ depature to Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton produced an amazing performance in his final race for Mercedes at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The Briton managed to go from P16 to P4, and even passed his team-mate George Russell on the final lap of the race.
After crossing the finish line, Lewis, his long-time race engineer Peter Bonnington – Bono, and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff exchanged emotional radio messages. Here they are in full:
Bono: “Have to say mate, it’s been epic working with you.”
Toto: “Lewis, that was the drive of a world champion. That was the drive of a world champion. Amazing.”
Lewis: “Thanks, Toto. That was fun.”

Bono: “Good man, stellar job today, bud. But yeah, it’s been a pleasure all the way.”
Lewis: “The pleasure’s been mine. Bono, we dreamed alone, but together we believed. And as a team, we achieved things that only… Thank you for all the courage, the determination, the passion, and for seeing me and supporting me. What started out as a leap of faith turned into a journey into the history books. We did everything together and I’m so so grateful to everyone. Both here and back at the factory. From the bottom of my heart, all the best.”
Bono: “Thank you, Lewis. Yeah, it’s been an amazing journey, and so grateful to be part of part of this chapter of your life, and best luck for the next one.”
Lewis: “I love you guys, I really really do.”
Toto: “We love you too and you are always going to be part of this family. And if we can’t do win, you should win.”
