Mercedes’ Technical Director James Allison was asked whether he could work with Adrian Newey, if the legendary designer was to switch to Mercedes.
It’s still unknown where Adrian Newey will end up when he leaves Red Bull in early 2025.
The main teams being discussed as his possible destination are Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Aston Martin, and even Williams.
Since Mercedes already has a strong technical leadership, with Technical Director James Allison at the helm, the question is whether two strong technical minds like Allison and Newey could coexist and work together at the same team.

When asked about this, Allison said he believes they could.
“That is quite a hypothetical question but I see no reason why not,” Allison said.
“You’d have to be reasonably clear about who was doing what, but I think that any team that’s looking at Adrian on the market as a person who is pretty effective, would be asking the same question of how you bring a guy like that in and make the most of him,” the Briton concluded.
