Lewis Hamilton’s former team-mate Jenson Button says “next year there’s every possibility Mercedes would be quite a great team”, and when that happens “Lewis will be ready there to fight for the championship”.
Mercedes has been having a difficult time in terms of their car’s performance since the beginning of the 2022 season.
Although at the moment it seems unrealistic that the German team will be able to challenge Red Bull anytime soon, Lewis Hamilton’s former McLaren team-mate Jenson Button believes it could happen next year.

“I think next year there’s every possibility Mercedes would be quite a great team,” the Briton told ‘On Track GP’ YouTube channel.
“They’re a little bit behind Red Bull at the moment so it’s tricky as the regulations don’t really change. But if anyone can challenge them, it’s definitely Mercedes.
“Lewis will be ready there to fight for the championship,” Button concluded.
