After qualifying in P5 for the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton says they “got the car in a relatively decent place, but when it gets hot we’re just not particularly fast”.

After two consecutive wins in Austria and Britain, Mercedes came to Hungary with high expectations, but unfortunately it was not to be.

In Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying, George Russell got eliminated in Q1 under changing weather conditions, while Lewis Hamilton managed to qualify in P5.

After the session, Lewis said it was the best they could do on the day.

“We came to try and be at the front and you can never be satisfied,” the Briton told Sky Sports F1.

“I think we did an ok job and I think we’ve done everything we could. We got the car in a relatively decent place, but when it gets hot we’re just not particularly fast.

“When the session started it was much cooler and we were rapid. As soon as the temperature picked up, others got faster and we got slower.

“Or didn’t get any faster at least,” Hamilton concluded.
