Lewis Hamilton says he personally doesn’t “care about statistics in general”, and stands behind his statement that he’s had stronger team-mates than Max Verstappen.
After winning the Italian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen has broken the record for most consecutive wins.
This was the Dutch driver’s tenth win in a row this season – one more than the previous record holder Sebastian Vettel has.
When asked about this after the race, Lewis Hamilton said these types of records are not something he cares about.
“I mean I don’t care about statistics in general,” Lewis said.
“Good for him,” he added.

In a recent interview Lewis Hamilton pointed out that he has had to compete against much stronger team-mates than Max Verstappen.
Considering how Lewis’ team-mates were world champions Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg, as well as drivers like Valtteri Bottas and George Russell, there’s no doubt that it’s a very strong lineup.
On the other hand, Verstappen had to share the team with the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Perez, Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly, all great drivers, but definitely not as accomplished as Lewis’.
When asked about this, Lewis confirmed he still stands behind those words.
“Yeah, I had strong teammates. Valtteri [Bottas] was quick a lot of times,” Hamilton concluded.
