After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton said he is hoping to agree to a contract extension with Mercedes in the “next couple weeks”.
With the 2020 season over, one question remains, when will Lewis Hamilton sign a new contract with Mercedes? The Briton was asked about it at the post Abu Dhabi Grand Prix press conference.
“Hopefully over the next couple weeks,” Hamilton said.
“We’d love to get it done before Christmas. I plan to be here next year, I want to be here next year and I think us as a team have more to do together, more to achieve both in the sport but even more outside the sport I think.

“I hope we can begin discussions this week and get it tied up before Christmas.”
Hamilton has already been listed on FIA’s entry list for next season, something that Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff joked about this weekend. The Austrian has also reiterated that Valtteri Bottas will definitely sit in a Mercedes in 2021.
