After a hard Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend Lewis Hamilton says he’s “so happy the weekend’s done” and “just looking forward to getting out”.

Lewis Hamilton had a hard Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend, ultimately finishing the race in P10. The Briton says Mercedes is still “a long way” from the top runners like Red Bull and Ferrari.

“I don’t know whether it was the strategy or the VSC, but we lost out,” Hamilton said.

“We’ll keep fighting, it’s all we can do. Right now we’re not fighting for the top set. We’re so far off the guys up ahead. We’ve got a lot of work to do.

“We’re still really down on the speed. I don’t think it’s one fix, it’s several things. I don’t know how much drag we have compared to the others, but it feels like a lot.”

When asked directly if he thinks Mercedes will be able to challenge Red Bull and Ferrari, Lewis said: “It feels like a long way away.”

Aksed what Mercedes needs, to be more competitive, the Briton said: “We need more grip, and we need more power.”

The weekend was not only hard in terms of racing, it also featured a missile attack on an oil facility close to the Jeddah circuit. Lewis says he is happy he can finally go home.

“I’m so happy the weekend’s done. I’m just so happy everyone’s safe. I’m just looking forward to getting out.

“I just want to go home,” Hamilton concluded.
