Lewis Hamilton reveals he has been thinking about extending his Mercedes contract beyond 2023, and has a message for the naysayers: “I’ll prove you wrong again”.

Last year Lewis Hamilton extended his Mercedes contract until the end of 2023, and some fans and observers have since speculated that this could be his last contract in Formula 1.

However, in an extensive interview for Vanity Fair, Lewis Hamilton revealed he is thinking of extending the deal.

“I’ll be lying if I said that I hadn’t thought about extending,” Hamilton said.

“I’m still on the mission, I’m still loving driving, I’m still being challenged by it. So I don’t really feel like I have to give it up anytime soon.”

Considering how Mercedes has been struggling with their car in 2022, some detractors have been suggesting that Lewis might be looking forward to calling it quits. He has a message for them:

“That’s what they would do. I’m built different. I mean, I was built for this. It reminds me that people still don’t know me. Even after all these years. People still don’t know.

“So, all right, I’ll prove you wrong again,” Hamilton concluded.
