After getting P4 at the Austrian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton gives “big congratulations to the team and to George”, and says his own performance was down to himself.

George Russell managed to win the Austrian Grand Prix, after Max Verstappen and Lando Norris collided while fighting for the lead.

Lewis Hamilton on the other hand finished in P4. After the race, Lewis was not happy with his performance.

“Pretty shocking,” the Briton said when asked by Sky Sports F1 how he would sum up the race.

“But I’m really happy for the team, everyone at the factory has worked so hard to get a result like this. Big congratulations to the team and to George. Well deserved.”

When asked whether his own performance was down to the car or down to himself, Lewis said:

“Me, I’ve been pretty s**t all weekend. Not for a lack of trying, but just generally slow.”

However, Lewis did say that his car might have picked up some damage.

“I’m not really quite sure. I think Turn 1 there was a bit of damage. Then my floor was falling apart, I don’t know when we got the damage.”

In the end Lewis said while George might have started gaining momentum, he himself did not.

“From my side, it’s not totally different. But George you can see is doing really well.

“He won a grand prix already, so that’s huge,” Hamilton concluded.
