Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya made changes to Turn 10 for safety reasons. Lewis Hamilton says he doesn’t understand “the point” of the new corner.

The Circuit announced that Turn 10 has been reprofiled to “allow for an extension of the run-off area at the turn, thus increasing the safety distance, and it will also lead to a return of the origins of the layout”.

After his first taste of the modified circuit, Lewis Hamilton wasn’t impressed.

“I don’t really understand what the point was of the corner,” the Briton said after Friday’s free practice sessions.

“It’s a lot lot faster, but I’ve not been in a racing scenario with it so I can’t tell you if it’ll be better for racing or not.

“The one before obviously was a dead stop. That was one other spot that you could potentially overtake on but the straight was too short.

“So yeah, I don’t know. Maybe it’ll allow us to follow closely, maybe, through that last section.

“And if it does, that means we can race better down the main straight,” concluded Hamilton.
