After claiming his 100th pole position at the Spanish Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton explained how he prepares for qualifying.
There’s nobody better to talk about qualifying than the only man in history to qualify on pole 100 times. And that person is Lewis Hamilton!
The seven-time champion was asked by Sky Sports F1 to explain how he prepares for his, more often than not, astonishing qualifying performances.
“I think you’re working towards it all the way through Thursday and Friday,” said Hamilton.
“And on Friday and Saturday morning you’re trying all these things and basically finding pieces to the puzzle.

“But you haven’t yet quite put them altogether. And then qualifying comes, and you have no choice whether you have got all the pieces or not you have to build the puzzle.
“When you look at all the best drivers, they’ve been able to be dynamic. They’ve learnt different driving styles and they can apply them collectively through a lap.
“Which others just can’t,” concluded the Briton.
Well, judging by his stats, Lewis certainly can 😉
