After years of leading the pack, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton are now stuck in the midfield for the time being. After the Miami Grand Prix, Lewis gave his perspective on the experience.

Mercedes has been firmly stuck in the midfield since the beginning of the 2022 season, a stark contrast to their dominant performances in the last eight years.

After the Miami Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton was asked how different it was to suddenly race in the midfield.

“It’s still racing, just a different perspective, a different point of view,” the Briton said.

“You always want to generally try and go forwards, but I will say it’s quite difficult when you’re not really going forwards.

“It is what it is, but it’s an experience for sure.”

Asked if Mercedes has made a step forward in Miami, the Briton conceded they are still in the same spot they were in at the beginning of the season.

“Unfortunately not. We’re the same speed as we were in the first race, so we’ve just got to keep trying.

“We haven’t improved, unfortunately, in these five races, but I’m hopeful that, at some stage, we will.

“We’ve just got to keep trying and keep working hard,” Hamilton concluded.
