After visiting the team’s doctor due to “fatigue and mild dizziness”, Lewis Hamilton joined the post-race press conference and provided an update on his condition.

After the Hungarian Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton was visibly unwell during the post-race interview and the podium celebration.

Mercedes later confirmed Hamilton was visiting the team’s doctor. However, now Lewis appears to be fine as he rejoined the post-race press conference.

“I’m okay. Yeah, I had real dizziness and everything got a bit blurry on the podium,” said the Briton of his condition.

“I’ve been fighting all year with staying healthy after what happened at the end of last year, and it’s a battle.”

Lewis is referring to his bout with COVID-19 that he contracted after last year’s Bahrain Grand Prix. Asked if he might be suffering from ‘long COVID’, the Briton said he was unsure.

“I haven’t spoken to anyone particularly about it but I think it is lingering. I remember the effects of when I had it.

“Training’s been different since then, and the levels of fatigue you get are different. As I said, it’s different, so I’m just continuing to try and train and prepare the best way I can.

“Who knows what it is today. Maybe it’s hydration, I don’t know but I’ve definitely not had that experience.

“I had something similar in Silverstone, but this is way worse,” concluded the seven-time champion.
