Lewis Hamilton says most of his “race performances have been really good”, so he is “happy with building back up to the level I should be”.

While Lewis Hamilton had a difficult 2022 season, especially since he was the one who was primarily tasked with helping Mercedes figure out how to improve their troubled car, in 2023 the Briton once again performed up to his very high standards.

Lewis finished the season in P3, but at one point he was even threatening Sergio Perez’s P2, even though the Mexican was driving the dominant Red Bull RB19.

While talking about his season, Lewis said he is pleased with his race performances.

“Most of my race performances have been really good,” the Briton said.

“So that, I am happy with building back up to the level I should be.”

However, when it comes to qualifying, Lewis said this is an area that needs to be improved.

“Qualifying is still an area that needs to be improved. We struggle as a team getting the performance out of these tyres and you’ll notice there was one weekend where George [Russell] would be massively off and I’d be OK, and then it switched the other way.

“And those are down to small details with the car,” Hamilton concluded.
