Lewis Hamilton shoots down rumours about his contract status with Mercedes and says: “As long as you don’t hear it from my mouth, it will only be speculation.”

There have been a lot of rumours floating around about the status of Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes contract negotiations, as well as supposed contract details.

After the Spanish Grand Prix, the Briton confirmed that he had a meeting scheduled with Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff on Monday (the day after the race), and Wolff said they “just need time to sit over a coffee” to agree on a new deal.

Other than that, there is no other official word about the situation. When asked by L’Equipe about the constant media speculation, Lewis shot it all down.

“As long as you don’t hear it from my mouth, it will only be speculation.

“And I say again, we are working with Toto to finalise all of this,” Hamilton concluded.
