After testing the Mercedes W13, Lewis Hamilton jokes he will need “a whoopee cushion”, because he is “probably sitting too low”.

After performing the first three days of pre-season testing, Lewis Hamilton said the 2022 car is very different from previous years’ machinery.

“The car is so much different. It is different to any other car I have driven in the past,” the Briton said.

“The aero balance and how it shifts, the mechanical balance and how it shifts, the low rear, it is a much different machine to drive and is going to require a lot of finesse and a lot of work to find how to set it up with the different tools that we have.”

At the Barcelona test many drivers have complained that they are having visibility problems due to new 18-inch tyres and a new aerodynamic fin above the front tyre.

When asked about visibility, Lewis joked he has a solution of his own.

“I think [it] is similar. I am probably sitting too low, I am seeing a lot of sky at the moment.

“But I will get a whoopee cushion or something and sit higher,” joked the Briton.
