Lewis Hamilton took the lie detector test, and he’s not lying when he says he will not leave Formula 1 before he wins his eighth championship title!
Sky Sports F1 arranged for Lewis Hamilton to take a lie detector test, and we learned some very interesting things.
Firstly, Lewis revealed that he has never lied to his senior race engineer Peter Bonnington – Bono, or to Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff. The lie detector confirmed he was telling the truth.
Lewis was also asked if he thinks he can beat George Russell and Toto Wolff in arm wrestling. While he said he could on both questions, the lie detector indicated he was telling the truth when it comes to Toto, but not when it comes to his team-mate George.
“Must be the physique,” Lewis joked.
Speaking of team-mates, Lewis was asked if Fernando Alonso was his favourite team-mate. Unsurprisingly, he said no, and the lie detector confirmed he was telling the truth.
He was then asked who his favourite team-mate was and, again unsurprisingly, he said Valtteri Bottas.
“Valtteri, he was just fun, we had a lot of fun over the years and there was a real comradery,” he explained.

“Even though he wanted to beat me it was just the respect we always had. There were never any games between us, you know.
“It was just straight on, we travelled together and we just built a really good friendship,” Lewis concluded.
Lewis also told the truth when asked if he thought he has the best fashion sense in the F1 paddock (he said yes), but when asked if he dislikes the attention he gets in public, Lewis said yes, and the lie detector said he was not telling the truth.
“I guess I do,” he smiled.
And possibly the biggest thing coming out of this little exercise, was the revelation that Lewis really does not intend to quit Formula 1 before he wins his eighth championship.
When the lie detector test confirmed Lewis was telling the truth, Sky F1 presenter Simon Lazenby said: “That’s what the fans want, that is good.”
