When asked if there is any truth to the speculation that Max Verstappen could go to Mercedes, Red Bull’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko said: “You have to ask Toto Wolff…”
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has already expressed interest in Max Verstappen as a possible replacement for Lewis Hamilton in 2025, and Red Bull’s internal struggles have only fuelled the speculation that such a shock switch could actually happen.
When OE24 asked Red Bull’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko if there is any truth to the rumours, the Austrian said: “You have to ask Toto Wolff…”
The other two options often discussed in the media as Lewis’ possible replacements, are four-time champion Sebastian Vettel, and Mercedes’ junior driver Kimi Antonelli.
Marko was asked to comment on these two names.

“Vettel and Antonelli are names with a great past and possibly a great future,” he said.
“But nobody has the level of Max Verstappen.”
Asked if he believes Vettel, who retired at the end of the 2022 season, could actually return to Formula 1, Marko said:
“He wants to. He had a long break now. On the other hand, he is 36 years old, so it’s all a question of motivation.
“In any case, these are all interesting constellations,” he concluded.
