Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko says his team’s power unit development programme is “miles ahead” of Audi and Ferrari, and “about the same” as Mercedes’.

Red Bull’s newly formed Red Bull Powertrains factory is producing the team’s own power unit for 2026, in partnership with Ford.

Although some, including Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, have stated that Red Bull seems to be lagging behind with their engine development, the team’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko claims it is “miles ahead” of all manufacturers, except Mercedes.

“I don’t think we’re technically behind,” he told Motorsport-Total.com.
