Mercedes’ simulator driver Anthony Davidson thinks Lewis Hamilton will want to return “to get back into that car this season and go and put things right”.

Lewis Hamilton’s future in Formula 1 appears to still be in doubt. The Briton hasn’t given any public statements since the controversial ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

This naturally led to a lot of media speculation surrounding his future, with some outlets suggesting his return will depend on the results of the FIA’s review of the Abu Dhabi situation.

For this reason Sky Sports F1 asked Mercedes’ simulator driver Anthony Davidson to give his thoughts on the possibility that Hamilton could retire from F1.

“You could get complacent,” Davidson said.

“But there’s no better way to motivate that team of a strong 1000-plus from Brackley to come back this year fighting ever harder than before.

“I’m sure he will be [there]. I would want to be. Who wouldn’t want to get back into that car this season and go and put things right?

“Because I’m sure that’s what he wants to do – win it the right way,” the Briton concluded.
