The Mercedes Formula 1 and Formula E teams did not appear at FIA’s champions photoshoot ahead of the Prize-Giving Gala.
The FIA usually has a photoshoot featuring the championship winning teams ahead of the Prize-Giving Gala, where all champions are officially crowned.
The Mercedes Formula 1 Team has won the 2021 Constructors’ Championship, while their Formula E outfit has won both the Drivers’ and the Teams’ Championships for the 2020/2021 season.
However, neither team appeared at the photoshoot, nor did they send their cars, which the featured teams usually do.

This comes after Mercedes announced their intention to appeal FIA’s decision to dismiss their protests over the controversial ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which saw Lewis Hamilton lose the race and the 2021 title following what appears to be a disregards for the rules by the FIA race director Michael Masi.
Mercedes has still not announced whether they intend to launch a full appeal, but the deadline for this is until Thursday evening, which coincides with the FIA’s Prize-Giving Gala.
Since the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Mercedes has not issued any statements except FIA’s notes that dismiss their protest and later their intention to appeal. Their social media accounts have also been silent since then.
Lewis Hamilton has not appeared in public or given any statements since the Abu Dhabi podium ceremony, but he is scheduled to receive his knighthood today at Windsor Castle.
