Amid ludicrous rumours that Lewis Hamilton might be looking to leave Mercedes, the team posted a social media post that sets the record straight.
Since Mercedes’ subpar performance at the Bahrain Grand Prix, numerous questionable reports have been published on certain F1 news websites and various tabloids, spreading rumours that there is dissent within the team, and even saying that Lewis Hamilton could be considering leaving for another team.
The craziest of these rumours have talked about the possibility of Lewis going to Ferrari, or even Aston Martin. Obviously there’s no truth to these talks, but that doesn’t stop the online speculation.
Naturally, Mercedes never officially acknowledged these ludicrous stories, but they did post an interesting message of their social media channels, which seems like an obvious response.
The team posted a photo of Lewis, along with his recent quote, saying: “I don’t plan on being anywhere else.”
These words were spoken at Mercedes’ 2023 car launch, when Lewis was asked if he wants to make sure that the team can produce a title-contending car before agreeing to a contract extension.

“For the team, no, I don’t feel like I need them to prove [anything] to me,” the Briton said at the time.
“I think we’ve proved time and time again over the years that we have strength in depth.
“We still have all these incredibly talented individuals within the team. As I said, you don’t lose that ability.
“We’re continuing to try to improve our processes, we’re continuing to try to be smarter in how we approach things, and with our communication.
“I think there’s the best harmony within the team that I’ve seen in all these years. We’ve got a real, fresh young group of engineers and people that have just come into the team over the past year as well.
“So it’s an exciting time for the team, and I don’t plan on being anywhere else,” he concluded.
