Mick Schumacher on the possibility of replacing Hamilton at Mercedes

Mick Schumacher was asked about the possibility of replacing Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, and he said: “What’s going to come in the next few weeks, we will have to see”.

Mick Schumacher was present at Alpine’s 2024 F1 car launch, in his function as Alpine’s World Endurance Championship driver, and there that he was asked about the possibility of replacing Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes in 2025.

After Lewis announced he will be leaving Mercedes at the end of 2024, Mick – who was Mercedes’ reserve driver in 2023 – is one of the names mentioned in connection with the Briton’s seat.

“On that topic, I didn’t really think much,” Schumacher said.

“I’m very happy with the sort of engineering team I have around me, I think we’ve got a better understanding of, you know, what we need, both as a team and myself as a driver.

“I think the team understood well, what are the sort of characteristics in the way that that I work, and we’re doing really well.

“So I think it’s mainly about keeping that collaboration going and keeping that way of working together to finish the year.

“And I must say, I’m quite confident on that side, let’s just start the season from where we left off.

“We’re obviously here at Alpine for the launch of the car, and what’s going to come in the next few weeks, we will have to see,” the German concluded.
