2016 Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg responds to Lewis Hamilton’s claims that Valtteri Bottas has been his “best team-mate”, and says the Finn was better than Red Bull’s Sergio Perez in 2021.
As Valtteri Bottas’ time with Mercedes was coming to a close, Lewis Hamilton reiterated numerous times that the Finn has been “the best team-mate I’ve had the pleasure of working with”.
Lewis’ previous Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg was asked if he found that to be disrespectful towards him, and he chose to joke about it.
“No I do feel that as disrespect, I mean what did I do wrong?” Rosberg said.
The German was referencing the gruelling three-year championship fight between him and Lewis, a fight that often turned ugly and caused much dissent within the Mercedes team.

However, when asked if he appreciates what Bottas did at Mercedes, Rosberg agreed that the Finn was good for the team.
“In the Constructors’ Championship yes absolutely, five years, it created a very good atmosphere, a very healthy atmosphere within the team. Which was different to my time.
“And that has given it a very good strength, so Mercedes is Constructors’ Champion.
“Valtteri did much better than Perez, so he deserves credit,” Rosberg concluded.
