Red Bull’s advisor Dr. Helmut Marko says the team agrees with Motorsport Total’s 2020 ranking that put Lewis Hamilton ahead of Max Verstappen.
Motorsport-Total.com recently ranked Formula 1 drivers in 2020 and put Lewis Hamilton in first place, ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo and Racing Point’s Sergio Perez.
The publication asked Red Bull’s advisor Dr. Helmut Marko to give his thoughts on the ranking.
“Yes, we agree,” said the head of Red Bull’s driver programme.
“However, I base my answer only on Hamilton’s race in Turkey.”

Marko was aiming at Lewis’ amazing drive at the Turkish Grand Prix where the Briton qualified in P6, but still managed to win the race and his seventh championship in style.
However, Marko doesn’t think any of Hamilton’s other ten victories in 2020 were anything special.
“We know that nothing can go wrong when you’re leading with a Mercedes,” the Austrian concluded.
While Red Bull scored only two victories in 2020, Marko can take solace in the fact that, when Sergio Perez joins the team next year, they will have the second and fourth ranked drivers behind the wheel of their cars.
