Daniel Ricciardo, Lando Norris and Jenson Button pay tribute to Lewis Hamilton for claiming 100 career pole positions.
At the Spanish Grand Prix Qualifying Lewis Hamilton made history by claiming his 100th pole position. Fellow F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo was full of praise for the Briton’s achievement.
“It’s huge,” Ricciardo told Speedcafe.com.
“The numbers seem crazy. Lando [Norris] wouldn’t even done 100 races, not even close, so it’s pretty crazy.
“You see now even, with some pressure from Max, he’s still obviously able to execute when it counts. That’s something I’ve always tried to give him credit for,” he added.
“He’s still able to do it in the heat of the moment, when the pressures on him and all eyes are on him, and I think that’s why he’s able to deliver and be as consistently strong as he’s been all these years.
Definitely hats off to him,” concluded the Australian driver.
Ricciardo’s McLaren team mate, and Lewis’ countryman, Lando Norris was equally impressed.

“It’s incredibly impressive to see what he’s achieved,” said the 21-year-old.
“It’s very impressive when I look up to maybe one day achieving such a thing. I guess we’re in a slightly different position to when he started his career in Formula 1.
“I think looking up to something like that and seeing what’s possible in Formula 1, and just what an incredible driver he is…
“It’s pretty cool to go racing with him every now and then,” concluded Norris.
And, finally, Lewis’ former team-mate Jenson Button also joined in on the praise.
“An amazing achievement,” the Briton told Sky Sports F1.
“Lewis has always been absolutely stunning when it comes to qualifying. From his first race in Formula 1 until now, it has definitely been a strength of his.
“It’s in the race that he has improved over the years. His understanding of a race car and getting from A to B as quick as possible.”
