After recent statements from FIA’s F1 head of F1 Peter Bayer regarding Michael Masi’s future, the FIA issued an official update on the status of their Abu Dhabi Grand Prix investigation.
In a recent interview FIA’s Secretary General for Motor Sport and head of F1 Peter Bayer seemed to hint that Michael Masi’s days as race director are numbered.
The FIA immediately issued a statement saying that no conclusions have been made by the governing body regarding the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix situation.
“At this stage, no decision has been taken on the outcome of the detailed analysis currently underway into the events of the last Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix,” the statement read.

“As previously announced, the findings of this detailed analysis will be presented at the F1 Commission meeting in London on 14 February after an open discussion with all F1 drivers and then finally have to be approved at the World Motor Sport Council meeting on 18 March in Bahrain, under the authority of FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.”
So, basically the FIA wanted to say that Bayer’s statements are not their official position.
However, it’s doubtful that he would be making such statements had there not been an internal discussions going in the direction of Masi being removed from his postion.
