Toto Wolff was asked about the rumors that he and Lewis Hamilton might leave Mercedes for Ferrari in 2021. The Austrian gave a cheeky answer.

With both Toto Wolff’s and Lewis Hamilton’s contracts with Mercedes ending after 2020, there has been a lot of rumors of the pair moving on from Mercedes. In one proposed scenario, they will both go to Ferrari. However Wolff doesn’t take these rumors very seriously.

“Sounds like a good plan,” joked Wolff.

“But I’d rather put something else out there: flying to Mars with Lewis and seeing if there anything out there to be won.

“In all seriousness, I want to be successful with Mercedes in 2020, and what happens after that I will decide in the next few months.

With Formula 1’s winter break coming up, Wolff says he doesn’t expect to recover completely.

“My ‘performance doctor’ says you need years to work your way into such a stress level and then years to get out of it.”

“Three weeks of vacation won’t help – you also have to have periods of recovery throughout the year.”
