Toto Wolff has no issue with Red Bull, if they stayed “within the rules”

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says Red Bull’s domination shows “they’ve simply done the best job”, but only “as long as they stay within the rules”.

Red Bull has been completely dominating Formula 1 since the beginning of 2022. Their domination is so great, that Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff recently said that it’s “like a bunch of F2 cars against an F1 [car]”.

It’s a statement he repeated again in Belgium.

“We are in the group of Formula 2 cars,” the Austrian said.

“Red Bull is alone in Formula 1.”

For this reason, some observers are calling for something to be done to slow down Red Bull, but Wolff believes this would not be fair, because they shouldn’t be penalised for doing the best job.

However, since Red Bull did break the 2021 cost cap, some are a bit suspicious over how they managed to gain the advantage they currently have.

This is something Toto also acknowledged in passing.

“It is the way it is, as long as they stay within the rules, they’ve simply done the best job,” he concluded.
