Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, who extended his contract for another 3 years, believes he could remain active within the team for “another 30 years”.

Last month, Toto Wolff extended his contract to remain Mercedes’ Team Principal and CEO for three more years.

In an interview included in the upcoming book by The Guardian F1 correspondent Giles Richards called ‘F1 Racing Confidential’, Wolff said he can see himself with the team for “another 30 years”.

“Life is full of surprises,” the Austrian said.

“I would never have imagined I would be here or the success of this team.

“I am 52 now. It sounds like an old age but hopefully there are another 30 years of Mercedes F1 for me.

“It’s important that when you hand over the baton at 80, you can say: ‘That was pretty good, I am happy with myself – I met my own expectations of my life,’” he concluded.

Wolff is also a one-third owner of the Mercedes Formula 1 Team, so there’s no doubt that he will remain involved for the long-term.
