Toto Wolff says Mercedes will “definitely discuss” a possible role for Mick Schumacher, because the team values him “as a personality and as a racing driver”.
It is expected that Haas will not renew Mick Schumacher’s contract for 2023, which could leave the son of legendary seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher without a race seat.
Since Michael has been an important part of Mercedes from when the manufacturer re-entered Formula 1 in 2010, up until he retired in 2012, team boss Toto Wolff was asked if there is a possibility for Mick to join the team as a reserve driver.
“I don’t know what the status is with Mick at Haas,” the Austrian said.

“I think the most important thing for him is to get a racing cockpit. But I make no secret of the fact that the Schumacher family is part of Mercedes.
“That we value Mick very much as a personality and as a racing driver. That’s why we will definitely discuss this option if it arises.
“But the first priority has to be to end up in a racing cockpit, because that’s what he can do and deserves,” Wolff concluded.
