Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff says he believes Formula 1 could realistically organize fifteen races in 2020.

The 2020 Formula 1 season has been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Liberty Media insists on going through with it in some form. The current goal is to start the season in Toto Wolff’s native Austria at the beginning of July.

“I think it’s realistic for Liberty to organize fifteen races if all goes well with the coronavirus,” Wolff told Austrian broadcaster ORF.

“With these events we do in Europe during the summer, we can easily reach the eight to ten races.”

Later the Austrian told Kronen Zeitung:

“It’s not the most important thing in the world.

“But if we can contribute something to the entertainment and distraction of the fans, as is now the case with the Bundesliga in Germany, then that’s a good thing.”
