Toto Wolff says “the good news is that there is a lot of Mercedes” in Aston Martin, so “we know exactly where to pinpoint” potential car changes.
Aston Martin has been the biggest surprise of 2023. The team already impressed in Pre-Season Testing, and then even more so when Fernando Alonso topped Bahrain Grand Prix FP2 and 3.
Ultimately, in qualifying, and the race Alonso finished ahead of both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
Because Aston Martin is powered by a Mercedes engine, and the two teams share a technical partnership, Toto Wolff believes Mercedes can improve its car by closely looking at the British team’s example.

“It’s just radical,” Wolff told Sky Sports F1 when asked to comment on Aston Martin’s performance.
“They deserve to be where they are because they did a fantastic job.
“The good news is that there is a lot of Mercedes in there, so we know exactly where to pinpoint it.
“That will be helpful in the recovery,” the Austrian concluded.
