Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says George Russell and Valtteri Bottas will be let “off the leash” at the Sakhir Grand Prix.
With both the constructors’ and drivers’ championships in the bag, Toto Wolff confirms George Russell and Valtteri Bottas will be free to race at the Sakhir Grand Prix.
“Free to race, that’s what we owe to everybody,” said Wolff when asked is he will allow its drivers to freely compete is the race, also adding they’ll be “Off the leash”.
The Austrian added Russell is definitely “a driver of the future”.

“Having been thrown into cold water, he is definitely swimming. Not only swimming, he is not comfortable in the car, it is too small, it is not his steering wheel so I would say it is more than solid what he has delivered.”
And what did Wolff find most impressive about the young Briton?
“His speed. What I saw the last time with him when I was able to benchmark him in F3 and F2, I have now seen in a Formula 1 car.
“His kindness about approaching it and just a really considered approach, I would say,” concluded Wolff.
