Toto Wolff says F1 must not artificially penalise successful team, as long as they “comply with the regulations”, and adds “entertainment follows sport and not the other way around”.

After Lewis Hamilton lost the 2021 title battle to Max Verstappen at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as a direct result of the race director’s decision to disregarding the rules which govern the use of the Safety Car, many observers and fans said Formula 1 is starting to resemble WWE’s scripted wrestling shows.

While talking about Red Bull’s current domination of the sport, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff used the same phrase as a response to those who are calling for F1 and the FIA to step in and ‘slow down’ the Austrian team.

“As long as you comply with the regulations, technical, sporting and financial, you just need to say well done,” Wolff told The Mirror.
