Valtteri Bottas talks about getting P3 at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and looks ahead at his final race for Mercedes in Abu Dhabi.
Valtteri Bottas had an eventful race in Saudi Arabia. He had a great starts, but an early red flag put a wrench in Mercedes’ plans and dropped him down to P5.
“Obviously everything started with the first red flag: it was a bit unlucky for us – very unlucky for us as a team,” said the Finn.
“And then on the restart with the hard tyres we were on the back foot and lost some places.”
However, he eventually managed to climb back up to P3, after passing Esteban Ocon a few meters before the finish line.

“It was a tough race, it was pretty intense. Esteban had a good race – they were actually surprisingly quick and we could not easily get him.
“But yeah, got him just at the end – just kept pushing and it was worth it today not to give up.”
With this Valtteri scored valuable points for Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship, and he’s now getting ready for his final race for the team, next weekend in Abu Dhabi.
“Yeah, a good day for that, and obviously with Lewis and Max now on equal points, it’s going to be a pretty exciting race in Abu Dhabi.
“I feel good. One more to go with the team. I think it’s going to be emotional, even for a Finn, so looking forward to it,” concluded Bottas.
