Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff strongly praises Max Verstappen, saying the Red Bull driver “is hanging on the tail of the Mercedes.”
In 2020 Mercedes was more dominant than ever. In fact, the only person that was capable of fighting the Silver (or Black) Arrows was Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. This fact doesn’t escape Toto Wolff.
”We’re always worried because this season was probably our strongest and never before was the difference so big, but Max is doing great,” said the Austrian.
“There were seldom more than three cars at the front of the field. He’s probably performing better than what the car is actually capable of.
“It’s a déjà vu every weekend when you see those three ‘amigos’ at the front and Max hanging on the tail of the Mercedes.
“That’s why next season Honda will be full for her last season and everyone at Red Bull will be motivated to the bone, Max not in the least,” concludes Wolff.
