Max Verstappen says he has been battling a big health issue caused by his controversial 51G crash at the 2021 British Grand Prix, caused by a collision with Lewis Hamilton.
Back in 2021 at the British Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton collided while battling for the lead, and the contact sent Max crashing into the barrier.
It was later revealed that it was a 51G crash, and that Max was taken to a hospital for precautionary checkups. Ultimately it was determined that he was not harmed in the crash.
However, now while talking to Red Bull’s the Red Bulletin, the Dutch driver revealed he has been battling a big health issue since then.
“Since my Silverstone crash, I’ve been struggling with visibility problems, especially on undulating circuits or those with lots of advertising boards along the side of the track,” Max said while talking about his victory at the 2021 United States Grand Prix, which he listed as one of his greatest races.

“In this race [the 2021 US Grand Prix], I wasn’t just battling against Lewis, but also against blurry images. It was like driving a speedboat at 300 km/h.
“I’ve never told you this before, but for a few laps it was so bad that I seriously considered turning the car off.
“The only thing that helped was concentrating on my breathing while Lewis was breathing down my neck.
“An important victory that I desperately needed in the fight for the world championship,” Verstappen concluded.
