Toto Wolff says Lewis Hamilton’s contract situation is “never down to me alone”, and explains why the negotiations are taking so long.

Lewis Hamilton’s next Mercedes contract has been one of the main stories the F1 news media has been covering this year.

The Briton’s current contract expires at the end of the year, and both he and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff have said on numerous occasions that they intend to sign a new multi-year deal.

However, the team is yet to announce any official news. Wolff explains why the negotiations are not a completely simple matter.
