Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says “Lewis is part of the team and the team is part of Lewis” and “there is no reason to not continue” that relationship.
Lewis Hamilton’s current contract with Mercedes will expire at the end of 2023, but he has already expressed his intention to continue racing for years to come.
During his appearance on F1’s Beyond the Grid podcast, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff revealed Lewis’ contract extension is one of his priorities over the winter break.
“Well, the job list is pretty long in what is needed to be done,” the Austrian said.
“But certainly, Lewis’ contract is one of the topics that we will tackle over the winter. But there is no firm deadline.”

However, Toto did say that a new deal is a certainty.
“Absolutely. Lewis is part of the team and the team is part of Lewis. There is no reason to not continue.
“I think one of his strengths is that he is always hungry, he is always eager.
“He is a great sportsman, but he is also someone who is extremely driven and determined,” Wolff concluded.
