Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says there is no rush to find a replacement for Lewis Hamilton, but there are “many excellent drivers who are already on the grid and available”.
Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025 came as a surprise to everybody.
After Lewis signed a two-year extension with Mercedes (which was later revealed to be a 1+1 deal), it was expected that he would drive for the team at least until the end of 2025.
However, Lewis decided end the deal after one year and he will now be leaving the team at the end of 2024.
Now, Mercedes has to find a replacement for the Briton, but team boss Toto Wolff says there is no rush.
Some have suggested that this could be an opportunity to give a seat to Mercedes’ promising junior driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli, but Wolff says there is no need to put pressure on the youngster with F1 seat speculation.
