Video footage has emerged of what appear to be Max Verstappen fans, burning Lewis Hamilton merchandise at the Hungaroring.
On the day that the Formula 1 started their ‘Drive it Out’ initiative, aimed at ending abuse among fans online and at the tracks, video footage emerged of fans wearing Max Verstappen colors and merchandise, burning Lewis Hamilton merchandise.
This comes after numerous reports of racist, sexist and homophobic abuse at the Austrian Grand Prix.
F1 journalist Jennie Gow called the footage disturbing, and asked fans to report on the situation at the track. One Twitter user responded by saying that some drunken fans shouted the ‘N-word’ at her after she was seen carrying a Hamilton flag.
