George Russell says him and Lewis Hamilton will have to “work together” to help Mercedes get to the top in 2022 and beyond, under new F1 rules.
Next year when the new Formula 1 rules kick in, it’s not a given that the same teams will remain on top. George Russell, who is joining Mercedes in 2022 is well aware of this fact.
The young Briton says it will be up to him and his new team-mate Lewis Hamilton to help the team keep their spot near the top of the Formula 1 grid.
“There is no guarantee who is going to have the fastest car when you hit the ground in the first test,” the young Briton said.

“But I think it is whoever works best together as a team who will prevail at the end of the season, so we will work together to do that.
“It is going to be down to us both to push the team forward and feedback where the weaknesses of the car is, to try and accelerate that improvement.
“Next year, with this new regulation change, there are going to be so many updates and improvements to work on throughout the whole season and I think we are all going to have to come together as a team,” Russell concluded.
